Foreword to the exhibition

2006年，唐卡被列入中国国家级非物质文化遗产名录。‍唐卡是中国传统文化中重要而独立的艺术体系，至今已有一千三百多年的历史，是记载西藏历史的百科全书，是藏传佛教酿造出的艺术之花。

In 2006, Thangka was added to China's intangible cultural heritage. Thangka is an important, independent art system in traditional Chinese culture. It has a history of one thousand, three hundred years. It is an encyclopedia of Tibetan history. It is the flower of Art Brewed by the Tibetan Buddhism.

天然矿石

绘制唐卡传统上全部采用金、银、珍珠、玛瑙、珊瑚、松石、孔雀石、朱砂等珍贵的矿物宝石颜料。这些天然颜料保证了所绘制的唐卡虽经千百年岁月的洗礼，依然色泽鲜艳、璀璨夺目。唐卡是画师用生命绘制的艺术，绘制一幅唐卡用时较长，短则数月，长则需要数年完成。

Traditionally, gold, silver, pearl, agate, coral, turquoise, malachite, cinnabar and other precious mineral gem pigments are used to paint Thangka. These natural pigments ensure that Thangka paintings are still bright in color, lustrous and brilliant after thousands of years of baptism. Thangka is an art that painters spend their whole life to draw. It takes a long time to draw a Thangka, maybe a few months or even years.

仁青才让

仁青才让出生在唐卡艺术之乡青海热贡地区，幼年师从拉卜楞寺唐卡大师格西谢日鲁华学习绘制唐卡。作为热贡唐卡艺术非遗传承人和工艺美术大师，仁青才让在唐卡的艺术道路上已经行进了二十三年。曾多次受邀参加中央电视台和北京电视台唐卡艺术纪录片录制，并于马耳他、悉尼、东京、澳门、北京、上海等地举办个人唐卡作品展，中央电视台、人民日报、新华社等多家媒体曾进行过报道。

Renqing Cairang was born in the Regong area of Qinghai, the home of Thangka art. In his childhood, he learned to draw the Thangka painting from the Thangka master in Labrang Temple named XieRiLuHua. As the inheritor of Thangka art intangible heritage and a craft master in Regong, Rinchen Tsering has embarked on the art road of Thangka for 23 years. He has been invited to participate in the Thangka art documentary recording of CCTV and BTV, and held individual Thangka paintings exhibitions in Malta, Sydney, Tokyo, Macao, Beijing, Shanghai and other places. In addition, CCTV, People’s Daily, Xinhua News Agency and other media have reported him many times.

仁青才让作品：莲师八变

仁青才让绘制的唐卡构思奇巧、设色精妙，沉稳雅致中升华出超然灵动。他笔下的线条技法精湛、流畅舒缓，细致而不纤弱。他历经数年独创的“凸金”绘画技法，极大地增强了唐卡画面的立体感，使画面上的人物跃然而出。

Renqing Cairang’s Thangka works are ingenious in conception and delicate in color matching, revealing a calm and flexible atmosphere of charm. The lines of his paintings are masterly, smooth and gentle, which brings a meticulous but not fragile feeling. After several years of exploration, his original “Convex Gold” painting technique has greatly enhanced the three-dimensional sense of Thangka pictures, making the figures vivid as if they are jumping out of the pictures.

仁青才让的唐卡作品在表现形式、构图和设色等方面，均吸收了汉地工笔画的风格，并在创作时将这种风格和藏传绘画艺术兼容并蓄，同时在传统上融入自己对绘画和佛教的理解。在他的唐卡作品中，人物的形态状貌、精神气质均精确生动，真正达到了形神兼备的境界。

The Thangka paintings of Renqing Cairang have absorbed the style of traditional Chinese realistic painting in the Han region in such aspects as expression form, composition and color setting and integrated this style with Tibetan painting art in the creation. At the same time, his own understanding of painting and Buddhism has also been blended in the creation on the basis of tradition. Therefore, the figures of his paintings are accurate and vivid in appearance and spirit, really reaching the realm of the combination of form and spirit.
